MEDIA RELEASE UPDATE

West Hawaii Criminal Investigation Division detectives are continuing their investigation into the fatal stabbing of a 4 month old male infant that occurred at a Kalaoa residence, on October 12, 2005 (Wednesday) evening, in Kona.

On October 12, 2005, at about 7:00 p.m., police received an emergency 911 call of an infant that had sustained a knife wound, at a residence in the Kona Highlands Subdivision. Upon arrival at the residence, Kona patrol officers located the lifeless body of a 4-month old infant within the home. A 16-year old female minor at the residence was taken into custody in connection with the death.

On October 13, 2005, at 1:30 A.M., the 16-year old female minor, that was arrested at the scene, was charged for Murder in the Second Degree. She was later brought before the Family Court for a detainment hearing. The court ordered that the minor remain in custody until her next court appearance date.

Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Section and Juvenile Aid Section are continuing their investigation.
