MEDIA RELEASE

Three men are in police custody in connection with a robbery Thursday night (March 8) in Kona.

A 14-year-old boy reported at 1:20 a.m. Friday that he had been robbed about three hours earlier at the Coconut Grove Marketplace on Alii Drive. Preliminary investigation by Kona patrol officers determined that three large local males confronted the boy at 11:30 p.m. Thursday and forcibly took a ukulele and a small amount of cash.

Shortly after police responded, they located the suspects on Kuakini Highway near Kalawa Street and recovered the ukulele.

Police arrested Siaiku Aholelei, 20, and Jason Tui, 22, both of Kaimuki, Oahu, and Sea Naulu, 19, of Hayward, California. The three men are being held at the Kealakehe police cellblock pending charges while Kona detectives continue the investigation.
