A 24-year-old man is in police custody facing possible charges for a robbery late Wednesday (June 23) at a vacation rental home in Kailua-Kona.

A 31-year-old California man reported that he was sleeping in the vacation home on Ali’i Drive when an unknown man entered his bedroom around 10:30 p.m. and removed cash from his wallet. The owner woke up, confronted the intruder and was struck in the face.

The intruder fled with an undisclosed amount of cash and other items. The victim did not require treatment for his injuries.

Police investigation led to the arrest Zackariah Weimer of Kailua-Kona at 6:30 a.m. Thursday. He is being held at the Kona police cellblock while detectives from the Area II Criminal Investigations Section continue the investigation.
