Media Release

Big Island police have arrested three men in connection with the robbery of a 35-year-old Kailua-Kona man shortly after he exited a Hele-On Bus on February 23.

The three men reportedly followed the victim off the bus in Kailua-Kona, pushed him to the ground, stole his backpack containing the drug hashish and fled on foot. The victim sustained abrasions to his legs from the struggle.

Police arrested 19-year-old Skyler DeLeon of Kailua-Kona on March 2 and 19-year-old Taei Mu of Kailua-Kona on March 4. Both men were released pending further investigation, which will be forwarded to the prosecutor’s office.

On Thursday (March 10), police arrested a third suspect, 19-year-old Joshua Kalili of Honaunau, and charged him with second-degree robbery. He is being held at the Kona police cellblock in lieu of $25,000 bail pending his initial court appearance.

Detectives also initiated a promotion of a harmful drug case in connection with the hashish. That case is still under investigation.
