Police arrested a suspect Saturday (February 5, 2000) in the shooting of another man during a dispute in Orchidland Estates, Puna.

Responding to a 3:55 p.m. call, Puna patrol officers arrived at a home on Pohaku Drive and 39th Street to find 42-year-old Paul Olson suffering from several bullet wounds. Olson was taken to the Hilo Medical Center, where he was treated for gunshot wounds to his left cheek, left lower back and the back of his scalp and later released.

Officers arrested Palmer Gaylord, 35, also of Orchidland Estates.

Gaylord is being held in the Hilo police cellblock pending further investigation by Hilo Criminal Investigation Section detectives.
