Man’s body found in Hilo Bay 09-02-04

The body of a 48-year-old Hilo man was found floating in the water Thursday (September 2, 2004) just offshore in Hilo Bay.

The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Responding to a 7:05 a.m. call, police determined that the man’s body was floating just feet from the shoreline next to the lighthouse in downtown Hilo. Officers determined that the man had been last seen about 4 p.m. the previous day.

There were no signs of foul play, and police have classified the case as a coroner’s inquest. An autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of death.
