MEDIA RELEASE

During the annual Merrie Monarch Hula Competition, police will enforce a temporary one-way traffic pattern on Kalanikoa Street in Hilo.

From noon Wednesday, April 19, 2006, through 1:00 a.m. Sunday, April 23, 2006, traffic will flow in the Puna or southerly direction on Kalanikoa Street between Kuawa Street and Piilani Street.

Traffic will only be allowed to turn right (west) to enter Piilani Street from Kalanikoa Street. Left turns from Kalanikoa Street onto Piilani Street will be prohibited.

Regular two-way traffic will remain in effect on Manono, Kuawa and Piilani Streets.
