MEDIA RELEASE UPDATE

Police have located a 14-year-old Hilo girl who had been reported missing by her mother.

The missing girl, Kauimaeole Iopa, was located at 10:50 a.m. Thursday (April 4, 2002) at a residence in the Hawaiian Paradise Park subdivision of Puna.

She was found safe and in good health.

The Hilo High School student had been reported missing by her mother, who had dropped the girl off at Coconut Island in the Banyan Drive area on Sunday. The girl was to meet with some friends, then call her mother to pick her up later that afternoon. She never called, and phone calls to her cell phone were not answered.
