Media Release

Big Island police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a 61-year-old Hilo man who has been missing since July 2007. Robert Maslanko was last seen by an acquaintance at his Komohana Street home.

Maslanko’s landlord reported him missing two months later in September. Maslanko is described as Caucasian, about 6-foot-3 with a thin build, gray hair and a short gray beard. There is no photograph available for him at this time, but he is said to bear a strong resemblance to the elderly actor in the motion picture "Home Alone."

Police ask anyone with information about Maslanko or his location to call Detective Reed Mahuna at 961-2384 or the Police Department’s non-emergency number at 935-3311. Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at 961-8300 in Hilo or 329-8181 in Kona.  All Crime Stoppers information is kept confidential.
