Big Island Police will be continuing their enforcement of drunk driving laws over the New Year’s Holiday. Increased DUI checkpoints and roving patrols will be in effect throughout the island.
To keep our roadways safe drivers are being urged not to drink and drink. If travelling is in your plans please make arrangements for a designated driver.
As of December 27, 2000, there has been 38 traffic fatalities on the Big Island, 11 of which were alcohol related.
