Big Island police have charged a 61-year-old Kaʻū man in connection with a shooting Sunday afternoon (July 8) in Ocean View.

At 2:30 p.m. Tuesday (July 10), detectives from the Area II Criminal Investigations Section charged John O’Leary of Hawaiian Ocean View Estates with attempted murder, second-degree assault and eight firearms offenses. His bail was set at $68,000.

He is being held at the Kona police cellblock pending his initial court appearance scheduled for Wednesday (July 11)
