The Aloha Exchange Club of East Hawai’i recognized Detective John Rodrigues on Thursday (June 25) as “Officer of the Month” for May.

Rodrigues was honored during a luncheon ceremony at Coqui’s Hideaway Restaurant in Hilo for investigating several burglary rings in Hilo and Puna. He was responsible for the arrests of seven persons and the filing of 26 charges. Another 22 cases were to be forwarded to the prosecutor’s office for possible charges. As part of the investigation, Rodrigues recovered stolen property with an estimated value of more than $100,000.

As “Officer of the Month,” Rodrigues is eligible for “Officer of the Year.”
