The Kona Crime Prevention Committee recognized Officer Shea Nactor  as “Officer of the Month” for November in a luncheon ceremony on November 2 at Huggo’s restaurant in Kailua-Kona.

Nactor, who joined the Hawaiʻi Police Department in 2009, was honored for his outstanding performance in arresting motorists for driving under the influence of intoxicants.

In May, Nactor arrested 13 drivers for DUI while working the overnight shift. “This is an incredible accomplishment from a patrol officer in addition to his patrol duties,” said Sergeant Raymond Childers, who noted that during the same period, Nactor investigated 20 incidents and 15 miscellaneous public complaints, made 15 adult arrests, issued 18 traffic citations and served four court documents.

“Removing the impaired driver from the Kona roadways is one of the proactive actions a police officer can do to improve the quality of life for all,” Childers said. “The diligence Officer Nactor puts forth in removing impaired drivers from our roadways has made it much safer for the  motoring public.”

As “Officer of the Month,” Nactor is eligible to become “Officer of the Year.” The Kona Crime Prevention Committee is an organization that encourages community involvement in aiding and supporting police in West Hawaiʻi.
