MEDIA RELEASE

The YMCA Na Opio Jrs. were the winners of the seventh annual Positive Alternative Gang Education (P.A.G.E.) Elementary School Division Volleyball Tournament.

The Boys & Girls Club of Hilo’s Team Harmony were runners-up in the police tournament, held March 13-April 17, 1999.

Fourteen teams consisting of 129 students in the fourth through sixth grades participated in the tournament, part of an effort by the Hawaii County Police Department to give juveniles an alternative to joining gangs.

The tournament was made possible with the support of the State Office of Youth Services.
