Big Island police are seeking the public’s help in apprehending a 40-year-old male suspect wanted for escape and a variety of drug and traffic offenses.

The suspect was identified as Kimo Wendell King, who is known to frequent the Panaewa Houselots areas of Puna. The suspect is also known as Wendell Kimo King, Kimo Kahele and Kimo K. King.

He is described as being a Hawaiian, being 5-feet-11 in height, weighing 220 pounds and having brown hair and eyes.

King is wanted for escape, promoting dangerous drugs, promoting harmful drugs, possessing illegal drug paraphernalia, driving under the influence of drugs, resisting an order to stop, reckless driving, speeding, driving without a license and failure to have no-fault insurance. King’s bail was set at $13,000.

Anyone with information about the escapee or his whereabouts is asked to call the police non-emergency number at 935-3311.

Those who wish to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at 961-8300 in Hilo or 329-8181 in Kona. The numbers are answered 24 hours a day. Callers will be given a coded number and their identity will remain anonymous. Callers may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000 if their call leads to an arrest, indictment or the recovery of property. Crime Stoppers neither subscribes to “Caller ID,” nor does it record phone calls.
