The Hawaii Police Commemorative Fund announced a recipient of one of the four scholarships offered through the University of Hawaii at Hilo and Hawaii Community College.

Voltaire A. Gansit, a junior at the University of Hawaii at Hilo, was recently awarded the ÒKenneth K. Keliipio Memorial Scholarship.Ó The $1,200 scholarship is funded by the Hawaii Police Commemorative Fund through its annual fundraising events.

Gansit graduated from McKinley High School on Oahu and chose to attend the University of Hawaii at Hilo for its advanced programs and the Òexcellent learning environment Hilo has to offer.Ó He is majoring in Administration of Justice and Political Science, where he has maintained a 3.45 grade point average.

Gansit is also active in extracurricular activities. He is a member of the Administration of Justice and Political Science Club, a public relations officer for the Bayanihan (Working Together) Club and a member of the model United Nations Club.

Gansit is also an intern with the County of Hawaii, Office of the Corporation Counsel.

Gansit said that he is thankful for the scholarship, which has helped financially toward realizing his long-term objective, which is to become an attorney or an agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
