Police are seeking the public’s help in solving a burglary at the Blue Ginger Gallery in Kainaliu, North Kona.
Sometime between 5 p.m. August 9 and 9 a.m. August 10, 2001, a thief of thieves entered the gallery by breaking a window and stole $5,000 worth of merchandise.
Some of the stolen items were locally made and unique. They include a cotton and lycra sport top with the label “Native Impulse”; key chains carved from semi-precious stones; a koa and bamboo rack for the key chains; a full-sized cotton patchwork quilt; and a baby crib-sized hand-painted cotton quilts.
Anyone with information about the burglary, the identities of the thieves or the stolen items is asked to call Officer Nikki Daly of the Kona Patrol at 326-4208 or the police non-emergency number at 935-3311.
Those who wish to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at 329-8181 in Kona or 961-8300 in Hilo. The numbers are answered 24 hours a day. Callers will be given a coded number and their identity will remain anonymous. Callers may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000 if their call leads to an arrest, indictment or the recovery of property. Crime Stoppers neither subscribes to “Caller ID,” nor does it record phone calls.
