Police seek information on theft of tent canopy sets 05-03-02

Police are seeking the public’s help in finding a thief or thieves who stole canopy tents from behind the Kai Store on Kilauea Avenue in Hilo.

Two complete gray canopy tent sets, measuring 20 feet by 20 feet, were taken sometime during between late Monday and early Tuesday (April 29 and 30, 2000). The tents and rigging equipment were valued at a total of $398.

Anyone who has information about the theft or the identity of the thieves is asked to call Officer Vince Sivankeo of the South Hilo Patrol at 961-2311 or the police non-emergency number at 935-3311.

Those who wish to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at 961-8300 in Hilo or 329-8181 in Kona. The numbers are answered 24 hours a day. Callers will be given a coded number and their identity will remain anonymous. Callers may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000 if their call leads to an arrest, indictment or the recovery of property. Crime Stoppers neither subscribes to “Caller ID,” nor does it record phone calls.
