MEDIA RELEASE UPDATE

Big Island police are seeking the public’s help in finding two men who robbed a video store in the Hilo Industrial Area last June.

Responding to an 11:49 p.m. call on Monday, June 6, 2005, South Hilo patrol officers determined that two males had entered the After Dark Video store on Kukila Street carrying a duffel bag.

One of the suspects brandished two handguns, pointing one at the clerk and holding the other against his chest, and demanded money. After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, the two then fled.

The suspects were described as being local males in their 20s, being about 5-foot-7 to 5-foot-8 in height with heavy builds and weighing 250 to 300 pounds. One suspect, who wore a bandanna, had short brown hair. The second suspect wore a knit cap with a T-shirt over his face, exposing only his eyes.

Anyone with information about the robbery or the identity of the suspects is asked to call Detective Uwao Chartrand at 961-2382 or the police non-emergency number at 935-3311.

Those who wish to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at 961-8300 in Hilo or 329-8181 in Kona. All Crime Stoppers information is kept strictly confidential.
