Big Island police arrested a 27-year-old Kea’au man Saturday (November 27) for assault.

Around 8 p.m. Friday (November 26), Puna patrol officers responded to a report of a person trespassing at a home in the Hawaiian Paradise Park subdivision. Officers discovered a semi-conscious 30-year-old man, who has no permanent address, in the carport of the home.

Fire Department personnel took the victim to Hilo Medical Center. He was later transferred to The Queen’s Medical Center on Oahu, where he was listed in stable condition.

Police arrested Herbert Anakalea on suspicion of assault.

Detectives from the Area I Criminal Investigations Section are continuing the investigation and ask that anyone who may have witnessed the incident call Detective Reed Mahuna at 961-2384 or the Police Department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311.
