Hawaii County police are asking for the public’s help in identifying burglars or recognizing items that were taken during burglaries in Puna last month.

Police responded to several burglaries in the Hawaiian Beaches and Hawaiian Paradise Park subdivisions during the first half of March. In addition to taking flat-screen televisions and other electronics, the burglars took some less common items, including Persian rugs, an ivory tusk, sterling silverware and heirloom jewelry.

Police ask anyone with information about the persons responsible or the location of the property to call Detective James Gusman at 961-2289 or the Police Department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311. Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at 962-8300 in Hilo or 329-8181 in Kona. All Crime Stoppers information is kept confidential.
