Puna Community Policing and Patrol officers arrested seven persons Friday night (March 5, 1999) for drinking in public and other offenses.

During a Crime Reduction Unit action, the officers arrested:

  • One person on a warrant in Keaau.
  • Four adults for intoxicating liquor prohibited in public places and one minors for illegal possession of liquor in Pahoa.
  • One person for promoting a detrimental drug in Pahoa.

Friday’s sweep was part of an ongoing operation conducted to keep public places safe for the public to enjoy.

Community Policing officers are reminding residents islandwide that consuming alcoholic beverages in public areas is in violation of the law.
