Puna Man Charged in Cocaine Bust 09-26-00

Hilo Vice Section officers investigating distribution of cocaine converged Monday afternoon (September 25, 2000) on what appeared to be a drug transaction in Hilo and arrested a 28-year-old Puna man.

At 3:50 p.m, Tuesday, Om (cq) Folger, of a Kalapana address, was charged with promoting a dangerous drug. Folger is being held in the Hilo police cellblock in lieu of $100,000 bail.

The suspect was arrested about 1 p.m. Monday after a police dog alerted officers to the presence of narcotics in a car parked in a Prince Kuhio Plaza parking lot.

During the arrest, vice officers seized 2.2 pounds of cocaine which had a street value estimated at more than $40,000.
