…arrested and charged in connection with a purse snatching

A Kona man has been charged with theft in connection with a purse snatching in February.

On February 8, an unknown man took a 67-year-old Japanese tourist’s handbag while she was riding a trolley on Ali’i Drive in Kailua-Kona. He then ran from the scene.

The handbag was later recovered with $300 missing.

Detectives from the Area II Juvenile Aid Section arrested 18-year-old Skyler Deleon of Kailua-Kona on Tuesday (April 2) and charged him with second-degree theft. His bail was set at $10,000.
