Big Island police have arrested a Kamuela man in connection with a purse snatching in West Hawaii last week. A 68-year-old Japanese tourist reported that someone slipped her purse off her body while she was lying down along the Kailua-Kona oceanfront area around noon on Wednesday (November 21). The the suspect then fled the area.

On Saturday (November 24), Kona Patrol officers arrested 25-year-old David K. Battle.

Battle was charged today (November 26) with second-degree theft. His bail was set at $5,000. He is being held in the Kona Police cellblock pending his initial court appearance.
