Traffic Rerouted for Easter 04/18/00

MEDIA RELEASE

Kapiolani Street in Hilo will have one-way traffic during certain hours to accommodate religious services on Good Friday, Holy Saturday and Easter Sunday.

One-way traffic will flow in the east, or Puna, direction on Kapiolani Street between Waianuenue Avenue and Haili Street. The one-way pattern will be in effect only during the following hours:

  • From 1 to 6 p.m. on Friday, April 21, 2000.
  • From 5 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, April 22, 2000.
  • From 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday, April 23, 2000.

At all other times, traffic will flow in the normal two-way pattern.

The one-way traffic pattern will be in effect to maintain a safe and orderly traffic flow during heavily attended Easter services at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church.
