CHARGED IN BURGLARY – Alexander Fanchie, left, and Clem Kamakea have been charged in a burglary at a residence in Hawaiian Acres. Each is being held in lieu of $6,000 bail.

MEDIA RELEASE

Two Puna men have been arrested and charged for a burglary at a Hawaiian Acres residence.

The suspects were identified as Alexander Gary Franchie, 34, and Clem Moani Kamakea, 33, both of Hawaiian Paradise Park addresses.

The two were arrested late Monday when Puna patrol officers responded to a burglary in progress and found the two inside a residence on 9th Street in Hawaiian Acres.

During the investigation, East Hawaii Criminal Investigation Section detectives recovered numerous household and construction items from the suspects’ residences. They also determined that the suspects had burglarized the same Hawaiian Acres residence the previous evening.

As the the result of the investigation, both Franchie and Kamakea were charged with two counts of second-degree burglary and second-degree theft. Each is being held in the Hilo police cellblock in lieu of $6,000 bail.
