Two Men Rob Kona Computer Store 09-27-01

Kona police are investigating the robbery of a computer store that occurred Thursday (September 27, 2001) in the Old Industrial Area of Kailua-Kona.

Responding to an armed robbery call at 3:30 p.m., Kona patrol officers determined that two masked males entered Island Tech Office Equipment on Kaiwi Street. One of the suspects was armed with a pistol and the other with a crowbar as they demanded money.

After taking an undisclosed amount of cash, the two suspects were last seen fleeing the scene in cream-colored Toyota SR-5 hatchback with no front license plate.

Anyone with information about the robbery or the identities of the robbers is asked to call Officer Sherry Bird at 326-4208 or the police non-emergency number at 935-3311.

Those who wish to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at 329-8181 in Kona or 961-8300 in Hilo. The numbers are answered 24 hours a day. Callers will be given a coded number and their identity will remain anonymous. Callers may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000 if their call leads to an arrest, indictment or the recovery of property. Crime Stoppers neither subscribes to “Caller ID,” nor does it record phone calls.
