Hilo Vice Section officers arrested a 32-year-old Puna man Wednesday (December 4, 2002) for growing marijuana in a greenhouse operation.

The suspect, identified as Bagi Attila, was arrested at 1:15 p.m. at his residence on the Old Kalapana Road for first-degree commercial promotion of marijuana.

Vice officers also seized 240 maturing marijuana plants with an average height of 3 feet growing within a greenhouse operation. They also seized 2.6 pounds of dried marijuana inside the residence and a .22 caliber rifle.

Attila was later released pending further investigation. Police said the case will be turned over to federal prosecutors for possible federal prosecution.
