Victim dies at Queen’s Hospital after home accident 06-23-03

A 51-year-old man died at Queen’s Medical Center on Oahu of injuries he suffered in a home accident Saturday, June 14, 2003, at his residence in Maliu Ridge, North Kohala.

The victim was identified as Allen Catrett, of a Maliu Ridge address.

Responding to a 6:18 p.m. report of a home accident on June 14, police determined that the victim was operating an all-terrain vehicle on his property when he was unable to make a turn around a tree and struck a wooden telephone post of a tree house.

Catrett was flown to the North Hawaii Community Hospital and later flown to Queen’s, where he was pronounced dead at 1:18 a.m. on Friday (June 20, 2003).

Police are continuing an investigation into the death and have ordered an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
