MEDIA RELEASE

Kona Vice and Criminal Intelligence Unit officers arrested 13 people Saturday (March 6, 1999) for a variety of drug and firearm offenses after executing a search warrant at a Waimea residence.

During a search of the Ahuli Park subdivision home, officers arrested Francis Perreira Sr., male, 68; Evelyn Perreira, female, 61; Alton Hooper Sr., male, 43; Daisy Hooper, female, 42; Sandy Perreira, female, 33; Sam Hooper, male, 36; Shawnette Hooper, female, 25; Alton Hooper Jr., male, 21; Alan Hooper, male, 21; Joylinda Alani, female, 19; and three juveniles, a female, 17, and two males, 14 and 13.

Police recovered 27 marijuana plants, about a pound of dried marijuana, five ounces of marijuana seeds and “crack” cocaine residue and drug paraphernalia.

They also recovered 14 rifles, five shotguns and two handguns.
