Police arrested a 30-year-old woman Wednesday (November 22, 2000) for fraudulently soliciting food and donations for the American Red Cross.

The suspect, Cheryl A. Ah Sing, of Hilo, was arrested and charged with one count of attempted theft, two counts of theft and three counts of forgery.

She is being held in the Hilo police cellblock in lieu of $1,300 bail.

Police said Ah Sing allegedly approached several downtown Hilo businesses asking for food and donations to help victims flooded by heavy rains early this month.
