A woman wanted for murder since December 6, 2000, turned herself into the police Wednesday morning (September 12, 2001).

The suspect was identified as Saraswati Gopi Lacasse, also known as Saraswati Mulder.

Lacasse was arrested at 8 a.m. and charged with second-degree murder. She was being held in the Hilo police cellblock in lieu of $1 million bail.

She was wanted as a suspect in the death of her 18-month-old daughter, Manjari Mulder, who died October 27, 1999.
