Hawaiʻi Island police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a woman whose image was captured on a surveillance camera during a shoplifting at a retail establishment in downtown Hilo.

At approximately 8:45 p.m. Thursday evening (May 19) an unidentified woman left the store without paying for a bottle of liquor. She is believed to be in her mid-40’s, approximately 5-feet tall, 145 pounds with a fair complexion. She had brown hair tied in a ponytail and was wearing light shorts and a dark tank top and was carrying a dark handbag.

Police ask anyone with information about the identity of the person in the photo to call Officer Michael Santos at 961-2213 or the Police Department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311.

Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call the island wide Crime Stoppers number at 961-8300 and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
