Hawaiʻi Island police have located a 19-year-old Hilo woman who was wanted on several outstanding bench warrants and was a suspect in several other investigations.

Cristinalynn Kainani Wakita was taken into custody on Thursday, August 13, 2015 at a residence on Mill Road in the Pāpaʻikou area.

A 39-year-old Pāpaʻikou man, Paul Guiteras, was also present at the residence and he was taken into custody after he interfered with officers who were attempting to arrest Wakita.

Officers of the Area I Special Enforcement Unit continued their investigations and were able to determine that on June 25, 2015, Wakita was involved in the removal a 1995 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck from a business located on Old Mamalahoa Highway in Pāpaʻikou. On June 29, 2015, Special Enforcement Unit officers observed Wakita operating the stolen truck on Mill Road in Pāpaʻikou and attempted to apprehend her. Wakita was able to evade officers and fled the area. The truck was later recovered at a residence on 32nd Avenue in the Hawaiian Paradise Park subdivision.

At 5:58 p.m. on Friday, (August 14), Wakita was charged with second degree burglary, second degree theft, unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle, fraudulent use of a license plate, resisting an order to stop, reckless driving, driving without a license, and resisting arrest. Her bail was set at $15,000.

Guiteras was charged with felony hindering prosecution, his bail was set at $10,000.
