Carenio and Au turned themselves in at the Hilo police station Monday night (February 6). They were held at the cellblock while detectives from the Area I Criminal Investigations Section continued the investigation.

Carenio was  charged with manslaughter in connection with the Grand Jury indictment for the death of 44-year-old Roy Williams Jr. of Mountain View.  Williams died following an altercation December 3 fronting a sports bar in Hilo.  Carenio’s bail on the grand jury indictment was $50,000. He made his initial court appearance for that charge Tuesday afternoon (February 7) and then was returned to the cellblock.

Later Tuesday, Carenio and Au were each charged with kidnapping, intimidating a witness, retaliating against a witness and third-degree assault for the Kamehameha Avenue incident. Their bail on those charges was set at $71,000 each. Both remain at the police cellblock pending their initial court appearances for those charges scheduled for Wednesday (February 8).
