Ka’u police do not suspect foul play in the death of a 71-year-old Naalehu fisherman Monday (June 5, 2006).

A passerby reported at 11:30 a.m. that the man was lying face down in the water at South Point.

The man was taken to Kona Community Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 3 p.m. His name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday (June 6, 2006) to determine the exact cause of death.

The case is being investigated as a coroner’s inquest.
