Hilo police are looking for a suspect who robbed the Kozmic Cones ice cream stand on Waianuenue Avenue on Friday night (June 22, 2001).

South Hilo patrol officers responded to an 8:20 p.m. call about an armed robbery at the establishment.

Witnesses told them that a male suspect displayed a handgun tucked in his waistband and demanded cash. After taking an undisclosed amount of cash, the suspect fled on foot.

The suspect fled was described only as a fair-skinned male about 5-feet-8 or 5-feet-9 in height. He was wearing one handkerchief that covered the upper portion of his head and a second one that covered his mouth. He was described as wearing dark-colored jacket and pants and thick-rimmed sunglasses.

Anyone with information about the theft or identity of the robber is asked to call Detective Greg Esteban of the Hilo CIS at 961-2384 or the police non-emergency number at 935-3311.
