Big Island police are warning the public about recent car break-ins that are occurring in the lower Puna Area at isolated parks and sites ranging from Lava Tree Park to Kehena Beach Parking Lot.  Primary method of entry is via the vehicle window by breaking glass or reaching in a partially opened window to unlock the door.  Victims of these crimes have included visitors and local residents alike.
As a reminder, all vehicles being left unattended should be locked and secured properly. The public is advised not to leave valuables within their vehicle and in instances where it becomes necessary, conceal items out of view.
Police are asking for the public’s help in providing any leads to identify possible suspects for these crimes and to report suspicious activity when it is observed.
