On October 14, 2010, at approximately 7:05 p.m., Kona Patrol Officers responded to a report of a disturbance and a gun shot fired in a residential area in Kailua-Kona.

Upon arrival, officers contacted a witness who identified two adult men being seen leaving a residence in the area; one of the men reported to be in possession of two firearms and, shortly after, hearing a gun shot.

Police located the two men and recovered a rifle within the area, then arrested Makalii Taketa (M-19) of Kailua-Kona, for place to keep loaded firearm, place to keep unloaded firearm, place to keep ammunition, permit(s) to acquire firearm, and promoting a detrimental drug in the third degree.
