Hawaii County police are looking for witnesses to an assault at Leleiwi Beach Park in Hilo on Monday.

A 60-year-old Hilo man reported that while he was cutting grass near the three-pavilion parking lot near the pond area between noon and 1 p.m., he was confronted by an unknown man who threw a stick and rocks at him and then initiated a fight.

The suspect is described as a local male, about 40 years old, around 5-foot-11, approximately 240 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He had tattoos on both arms.

Police ask anyone with any information about the case to call Officer Aaron Loges at 961-8851 or the Police Department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311.
