MEDIA RELEASE UPDATE NO. 2

Police have identified the body of a man found Saturday (October 2, 1999) as that of Dean Cunningham, 50, of Kailua-Kona.

Cunningham was identified through dental records.

An autopsy completed Monday was unable to determine the cause of death, but it turned up no evidence of foul play.

The Kona Criminal Investigation Section is continuing the investigation pending further laboratory work and investigative follow-ups.

Cunningham’s skeletal remains were found in a remote area of Kailua-Kona by a person who was looking for rocks to build a rock wall and who called police. Officers located the remains at the end of Kamaka Eha Street.
