…arrested for third-degree sexual assault

Tips from the public helped Big Island Police locate a 37-year-old man wanted for the sexual assault of a male minor.

Cary Cantere was arrested on suspicion of third-degree sexual assault at 11:40 a.m. after police received tips that he had been seen walking in Hilo. He has not been charged.

Police asked for the public help in locating Cantere on Monday, after receiving a report of the alleged sexual assault in the Keaau area of Puna.

Cantere is being held in the Hilo police cellblock pending further investigation.
