Big Island Police are asking for the public’s help in locating a 37-year-old suspect wanted for the sexual assault of a male child.

The suspect was identified as Cary Cantere. He is known to frequent the Hilo and Puna Districts. He may have fled to Oahu and may be in the Waipahu area.

Cantere is described as Filipino, 5-foot-2, about 200 pounds with brown eyes and black hair.

Police caution members of the public against approaching or attempting to apprehend him.

Police ask anyone with information on his whereabouts to call the Police Department’s non-emergency number at 935-3311.

Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at 961-8300 in Hilo or 329-8181 in Kona. All Crime Stoppers information is kept confidential.
