MEDIA RELEASE

Officers of the East Hawaii Ice Task Force, East Hawaii Vice Section and Criminal Intelligence Unit arrested four persons in three separate drug busts over the past five days.

On Friday (April 2, 2004), the officers served a search warrant on a Wainaku Street residence in Hilo — the second one in a month — and arrested Raymon Yagong-Weber, 31, for possession of crystal methamphetamine, or “ice,” illegal drug paraphernalia and marijuana. Officers also seized $120 in cash for forfeiture.

Yagong-Weber was charged with one count of promoting a dangerous drug, three counts of possessing illegal drug paraphernalia and one count of promoting a detrimental drug. His bail was set at $10,250.

On Monday, the officers served a search warrant on another Wainaku Street residence and arrested Bert Flores, 44, after they recovered crystal methamphetamine, glass smoking pipes and packets. They also seized $1,245 in cash for forfeiture.

Flores was charged with one count of promoting a dangerous drug and two counts of possessing illegal drug paraphernalia. He was also arrested on an outstanding bench warrant for a previous drug search warrant served during Operation Meltdown I in January 2003. His total bail was set at $29,000.

On Tuesday, the officers served a search warrant on a Kawakawa Street residence in Hawaiian Beaches, Puna. They arrested Anetazha Carriaga, 24, and Gordon Kong, 44, after finding two grams of crystal methamphetamine and illegal drug paraphernalia. They also seized $600 in cash for forfeiture. Carriaga and Kong are being held in the Hilo police cellblock pending a charging decision by the county prosecutor’s office.
