MEDIA RELEASE

The Hawaii Isle Police Activities League is sponsoring its annual HI-PAL Boys and Girls Intermediate Basketball League.

League games will start on September 11 and run through November 19, 2000.

With the help of the HI-PAL staff, the teams will be formed within their public or private intermediate schools and play against other intermediate schools.

All registered seventh and eighth grade players will go through a draft system at their school. Students studying at home or at schools that cannot form a team will be placed on teams that don’t have enough players.

The league will be limited to the first 18 teams for the boys and 12 teams for the girls.

A mandatory meeting will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, August 23, 2000, on the Boys and Girls Club lanai for responsible adults interested in coaching a team. Adults must attend to confirm that they are willing to coach a team.

Anyone interested in participating for a team is asked to call the HI-PAL office at 961-2219 or 961-2220 for more information.
