The Hawaii Isle Police Activities League is taking applications for its HI-PAL 2000 Summer Basketball League.

The league will be open to boys and girls in the 5 & 6, 7 & 8, 9 & 10, 11 & 12 and 13 & 14 Divisions. There will also be a division for girls 12 and under and girls 14 and under. Players may participate in only one division.

There will be a limit on the number of teams in each division. The deadline for registering teams for the 9 & 10 and under and the girls divisions will be Wednesday, May 31; the deadline for the 11 & 12 and 13 & 14 divisions will be Wednesday, July 5.

Basketball players who played for their high schools at the junior varsity or varsity levels will be ineligible. Boys and girls who have finished their respective age by December 31, 2000, will be eligible to play in their age division.

A mandatory coaches meeting for the 9 & 10 and lower age divisions and for the girls divisions will be held on May 31 at the Boys and Girls Club lanai next to the pool. The topics to be discussed include league format, rules and regulations and starting date.

The league games will start on June 13 and end on August 31, 2000.

Teams interested in entering the league are encouraged to call the HI-PAL office at 961-2219 or 961-2220 as soon as possible.
