Following a two-month investigation, Hilo Vice Section officers arrested two men for drug offenses Wednesday (December 15, 1999) after converging on a car parked at a Kanoelehua Avenue address in Hilo.

The suspects, a 23-year-old Hilo man and a 21-year-old Waimea man, were arrested for promoting a dangerous drug and possessing drug paraphernalia. The older man was also arrested for promoting a detrimental drug and on a bench warrant for contempt of court.

During the 3:50 p.m. arrest, officers confiscated 4.5 pounds of cocaine, with a street value estimated at more than $75,000, and 18 grams of marijuana.

They also initiated forfeiture proceedings against a 1988 Honda sedan and $2,063 in cash.

The suspects were being held in the Hilo police cellblock pending further investigation.
