Hilo Criminal Investigation Section detectives Tuesday (June 1, 1999) charged a Hilo man with attempted murder and second-degree assault in the stabbing of two other males during a fight late Monday.

The suspect, identified as Ripow Ceasar, 21, is being in the Hilo police cellblock in lieu of $21,000 bail.

Responding to an 11:35 p.m. report of a fight at a Maile Street address, Hilo patrol officers arrived at the scene to find that two males, one 25 and the other 19, had been stabbed.

The victims were taken to the Hilo Medical Center, where the 25-year-old remains in guarded condition with multiple stab wounds. The 19-year-old was treated and released for a stab wound to the knee and contusions to his head and face.

Officers arrested and charged a 17-year-old male at the scene and later charged him with second-degree assault for allegedly striking one of the victims with a rock. His case was turned over to Family Court.

Later Tuesday, detectives arrested and charged Kandeus Refit, 35, with third-degree assault for allegedly punching and kicking one of the victims. Refit was being held on $250 bail.
