Hilo police seek information about catamaran theft 10-29-02

Police are looking for a thief or thieves who stole a catamaran anchored at Reed’s Bay behind the Bay Clinic.

Sometime between 9 a.m. on October 5, 2002, and 5 p.m. on October 8, 2002, someone stole the Hobie catamaran. The boat is described as being white and measuring 16 feet in length by 8 feet in width and having a 30-foot mast. The catamaran was valued at an estimated $6,000.

Anyone with information about the theft or the identity of the thieves is asked to call Officer Robert Pauole of the South Hilo Patrol at 935-3311.

Those who wish to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at 961-8300 in Hilo or 329-8181 in Kona. The numbers are answered 24 hours a day. Callers will be given a coded number and their identity will remain anonymous. Callers may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000 if their call leads to an arrest, indictment or the recovery of property. Crime Stoppers neither subscribes to “Caller ID,” nor does it record phone calls.
